Wondering what to bring? Here's some important stuff to know:

Here are the directions to get to Fishing Camp from The Western States.

Get on I-80 East.
Take exit 78 toward Sigel/Brookville
Follow PA-36 North. (18.8 miles)

You will cross the Clarion River.
About 3 miles past the river crossing, you will need to make a Left turn.   The road is  Miola Rd.   I don't think it is very well marked.   The best way to look for this road, is too look for signs pointing to the Kalyumet Campground.  It is off of the same road you want to turn onto.

Once you make that left, drive about .5 miles.   There will be a crossroads.   You want to turn left.   Drive down this road, I think it is called Scotch Hill Drive.  I don't know if it is marked either.
You then want to make your first left you come to.   It is called Piscataque Dr. Then drive down that road, untill you come to a "Y"  go right.   Then take the next right you can, and it will take you up to the cabins.    We have Cabins number 3, 4, and 6.   You should see us there.

If you happen to miss the turn off of 36, you will know if you have gone to far if you reach the Unimart.   Turn around, and check your odometer.  It should be about 3 miles to that road from the Unimart.

Well friends, soon it will be time for FC. I am making this page in the necessity to tell you what to bring. It has come to my attention that there are a lot of newcomers, and no one seems to know what lay in store. Well, I will help you out...

First: When you come driving in to Cooksforest, make sure you have a map of how to get there. The FC info page has links to directions and maps.

Second: When you get to the road that runs into the camp, please go slow. I know this sounds anal, but last year, the people who lived there stopped me and told me that my friends were driving like maniacs. I hope that everyone who comes respects the neighbors of our camp, and drives like an old man. This will prevent them from getting pissed off, and this will also prevent them from calling the police. I know and you know, we do not need the police involved in any fishing camp. There will be so much contraband there, that we will look worse than the country of Iran.

Third: Here is the checklist of things to bring.

 1. Sleeping bag

 2. Air mattress
(This is a must for the people who sign up late.) I tried to plan accordingly to accommodate all who wanted to come, but there seems to be a high influx of people who want to come at the last moment.

 3. Beer.
We are bringing kegs, but that won't keep everyone drunk. I would imagine that everyone could bring a case of beer per person for the weekend. Even if you are a light drinker, It will get drank.

 4. Shower towel, and shower gear.
There are showers at this place, so there is no reason to be a grunge ball. Take a shower, and you will wake up to drink more.

 5. Food.
We are going to have a pig, fried turkeys, beef ribs, and chicken. It is encouraged that you bring food to eat to add to our feast. We sort of have a rule, that you bring something that everyone else can eat. Sort of like a huge pot luck dinner. This way, no one is hungry, and everyone can eat what they want. I would suggest to make your favorite dip, meat, dish, or picnic favorite. This makes for a merrier feast on all of the nights. If you don't bring food, bring a bottle of booze

 6. Rainwear.
The last 2 years, FC has been very nice weather wise. It may be just a gut feeling, but it could turn ugly this year. If it does you would like to be prepared. Also remember to dress accordingly for the elements. Sweatshirts, jackets, socks, extra everything. Nothing is more miserable than wet, cold clothes, so be advised.

 7. Fishing Gear.
This is fishing camp right? It isn't a requirement, but it is cool if you fish. Keep your fish too, because we will eat them. Bring a pole, line, waders, reel, and either hooks for live bait, or lures to fish with. We recommend using niti's. I personally would also recommend number 2 blue fox vibrax lures, or size 3/16 Panther martins. All are very productive on trout.

 8. Fishing license.
If you are a resident from PA, you can get every license you need for I think like $31. That includes the license and the trout stamp (you need it to fish for trout in Pa.). If you are from out of state, and only plan on spending the weekend here to fish, I would suggest buying the out of state 3 day license. Get it on Friday afternoon, or better yet Saturday morning. It costs $33. Another thing that may apply for some PA residents who are in the military and attend, is to just have a copy of your military ID, and leave paperwork. You can fish for free. I think you have earned that right.

 9. Tobacco products. Yes there are stores here, but isn't it nice to know that you have a whole carton of cigs in your car, or a whole role of chew if your truck? It's probably a whole lot cheaper too.

 10. Drinking shoes. The last thing you really need for fishing camp is your drinking shoes. If you come unprepared, you may pass out early. I am not kidding you. We booze. We booze like there isn't a tomorrow. If we do wake up on Saturday, we booze like Sunday is D-Day. Its kind of bad. You may experience passing out 3-4 times in one day, but not worry. Its normal.
